Capture Clean Scans from Paper or Photos
Genius Scan turns the phone camera into a guided paper-scanning workspace. Users can place a receipt, contract, note, card, or form in view, and the app detects the page boundary, corrects perspective, removes the surrounding background, and enhances readability. Automatic capture and batch mode make it practical to digitize several pages without returning to the document list after each shot.
The scan screen also provides routes for the camera, existing photos, and files, so paper and digital inputs can enter the same workflow. Photos and PDF files can be imported when a document already exists on the device. These choices suit quick office handoffs, expense records, class notes, signed forms, and personal archives that need a cleaner result than a basic camera photo.
Build and Edit Multi-Page PDF Documents
After capture, separate pages can be collected into a single multi-page PDF rather than managed as unrelated images. Users can reorder pages, merge or split documents, apply filters, and adjust a scan when automatic processing needs correction. PDF and JPEG export options cover both complete document bundles and individual image-style copies.
This workflow is useful for long forms, study materials, travel receipts, and contracts because related pages stay together. A user can scan pages in sequence, review them, edit the result, and choose the format needed by the recipient. Password-protected PDF and PDF/A support extend the workflow for records that need controlled access or long-term archiving, while OCR can add searchable text on eligible plans.
Find and Organize Saved Documents
The Documents area acts as a local filing cabinet instead of a simple image list. Users can create folders, rename scans, apply tags, and search their collection when a growing archive becomes difficult to browse. Search results can be sorted by relevance, title, or date, helping users return to a specific receipt, form, or set of notes without scrolling through every item.
This organization is useful for recurring paperwork such as expenses, client documents, coursework, warranties, and household records. Standard search works with document titles and tags, while text recognition can index scan contents and create searchable PDFs when that feature is enabled. Smart naming templates and extracted metadata can reduce repetitive labeling for users who scan similar documents regularly.
Export, Back Up, and Protect Scans
Finished scans can be shared by email or sent to other apps as PDF or JPEG files. Genius Scan also supports destinations such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, Evernote, FTP, and WebDAV, giving users several ways to move records into an existing work or storage system. Auto Export can handle repeated destinations in the background for more structured document routines.
Privacy-focused controls include on-device document processing, biometric or passcode access, PDF encryption, and optional deletion after export. Genius Cloud adds backup, multi-device sync, storage offloading, and web access for people who want the same archive beyond one phone. These extended tools are most useful for professionals and teams that scan frequently, while the basic scanning workflow still covers occasional paper-to-PDF tasks.
