Features & use cases

Collect surveys in the field

Cartographer is designed for environmental professionals and volunteers who collect geospatial information away from a desk. It supports recording field surveys with or without a mobile data connection.

When a connection becomes available again, new surveys can be uploaded to the Cartographer cloud platform so the work can continue beyond the device.

Turn field data into shared work

The platform brings collected data together for analysis, publication, and collaboration. Maps can also be browsed or shared from the web after the information has been brought into the wider workspace.

Datasets can be exported for use in GIS or spreadsheet applications, helping teams move collected information into their existing reporting and analysis processes.

Sign in to the right workspace

The Android sign-in screen uses the same email address and password as the Cartographer website. It includes a Production Servers option and a Custom Server dialog for approved non-default deployments.

The custom-server guidance recommends leaving that field blank unless the address has been discussed with Cartographer support, which helps prevent an unintended connection setup.
