About Inbox by Gmail APK

Inbox by Gmail is a discontinued email productivity app from Google that reorganizes Gmail messages around tasks and important information. It groups related mail into Bundles, pulls useful details into Highlights, and lets users mark conversations as done instead of leaving every message in a crowded inbox. Reminders, Assists, and Snooze connect email with follow-up actions, while event summaries, newsletter previews, and saved links reduce repeated searching. The original service closed in 2019, so the Android app now mainly preserves a historical view of Google's task-focused approach to email.

Features & use cases

Bundles and Highlights for Faster Email Triage

Inbox was designed to reduce email clutter by collecting related messages into Bundles. Purchase receipts, bank statements, promotions, travel updates, and other recurring mail could be handled together instead of one conversation at a time. Users could also teach the grouping system which messages belonged together, making the inbox more aligned with their own routine.

Highlights pulled useful details out of important messages so users could see flight itineraries, event information, photos, documents, and delivery updates without opening every thread. Combined with a Done action for clearing completed items, this created a task-oriented triage flow for people who wanted to process mail quickly rather than maintain a long unread list.

Reminders, Snooze, and Assists for Follow-Up

Reminders turned the inbox into a lightweight task list for jobs that began in email but needed action later. Users could write a reminder alongside their conversations, keeping errands, calls, and follow-ups in the same place as the messages that prompted them. Assists could add practical context such as a business phone number, opening hours, a reservation map, or a flight check-in link.

Snooze gave users control over when an email or reminder returned. An item could come back at a chosen time or at a location such as home or the office, helping people postpone work without losing it. Together, these tools supported a deliberate follow-up routine instead of relying on unread flags alone.

Events, Newsletters, and Saved Links in One Place

Inbox brought related event messages together so changing plans, replies, and calendar details could be reviewed in one summary. This was useful for reservations, trips, meetings, and group activities where several updates might otherwise be scattered across separate threads. Event overviews emphasized what changed and made the latest information easier to find.

Newsletter previews let readers scan recent stories before opening the articles that interested them, then minimized older newsletter content to save space. Save to Inbox also gave users a place for articles, recipes, and other links they wanted to revisit. Links shared from Android, iOS, or the web could be grouped together, turning the inbox into a compact reading and reference queue.

Quick Answers, Smart Replies, and a Done Workflow

Search could surface useful answers above the message list, including addresses, phone numbers, membership numbers, flights, events, bills, and package tracking details. Relevant Top results appeared before the remaining messages, reducing the need to open several threads just to recover one fact. The same focus on speed extended to marking finished conversations as Done or deleting them directly from the inbox.

Smart Reply offered short response suggestions, while Nudges and high-priority notifications helped bring time-sensitive conversations back to attention. Google Drive integration supported inserting Drive links, checking sharing permissions, and saving attachments. These tools made Inbox most suitable for users who treated email as an active work queue rather than a passive archive.
