Scale Ingredient Amounts by Serving Size
Recipe Calculator turns a serving change into a quick kitchen calculation. Enter the recipe's Original Serving Size, type the number you want in Desired Serving Size, add the Ingredient Amount, and press Calc. The New Amount field returns the adjusted quantity, so a recipe planned for four can be resized for a family meal or a smaller batch without doing the ratio by hand.
The interface keeps the three inputs visible above the keypad, with active fields highlighted so you can see which value is being edited. Numeric keys, a decimal point, delete, clear, and space buttons make mixed amounts easy to enter. It is useful for cooks working from handwritten recipes, changing portions at the counter, or checking a single ingredient while keeping the rest of the recipe unchanged.
Convert Cups, Volume, and Weight Measures
Use the From and To controls when the task is a measurement conversion rather than a portion change. The volume menu supports cup-based values and other kitchen measures, while the top mode control can switch between volume and weight calculations. Metric and Imperial choices make the same ingredient easier to express for different recipes, cookware, or regional instructions.
For quick reference, the Help area includes common kitchen equivalents and a cup-to-gram chart for selected ingredients such as sugar, flour, butter, oil, milk, and water. Because grams describe mass and milliliters describe volume, results depend on the ingredient rather than a universal cup-to-gram rule. This makes the converter practical for everyday substitutions while keeping expectations clear.
Work with Kitchen-Friendly Fractions
Many recipes use halves, thirds, quarters, or eighths instead of decimal quantities. Recipe Calculator provides dedicated fraction buttons from 1/4 through 3/4 and an 8ths toggle for finer entries. When you need a sixteenth, the fraction control can add "/16" after a number, which keeps measurements readable while you type.
The calculator rounds results to the nearest available fraction and marks a close result with a plus or minus sign when it falls slightly above or below that fraction. This is helpful when scaling sauces, dough, or drinks where a practical spoon or cup measure is more useful than a long decimal. The clear keypad also lets you edit, delete, or reset an amount before calculating again.
Switch Calculator Modes and Learn the Controls
Recipe Calculator includes more than one way to reach a useful answer. The title control can switch between Recipe Calculator and Percent Calculator, while the volume control changes the measurement context. An Options menu opens Help, Release Notes, Miscellaneous Notes, About, Contact Developer, Settings, and Exit, giving recurring users a clear route to reference material and preferences.
The Help screen explains each field, the Calc action, conversion behavior, and fraction notation, and it can be resized or scrolled for easier reading on different displays. Settings and navigation stay close to the main calculator, so a cook can review a rule, return to the keypad, and continue a calculation without learning a complicated workflow.
