Voice notes gives you two practical ways to capture an idea before it disappears: speak into the microphone for a text note, or save the thought as an audio recording. Continuous dictation is useful for a longer stream of ideas, while a short recording works when the original voice matters more than a transcript. The Notes workspace keeps both paths close to the main Create Note actions.
This workflow fits moments when typing is awkward, such as commuting, walking, cooking, or brainstorming. The clear empty state makes the next action easy to find, and the app can turn a quick thought into a searchable note or a replayable memo without forcing a long setup first.
Reminders for Ideas You Need Later
A captured note becomes more useful when it can return at the right moment. Voice notes lets you create reminders for important notes, choose a time, and select an audio alert, vibration, or repeating notification when a single reminder is not enough. This makes the app useful for errands, follow-up tasks, daily habits, and ideas that should not be left in a list.
The Reminders tab provides a dedicated place to review scheduled items rather than mixing them with ordinary notes. A reminder can prompt a new note at the chosen time, and the navigation drawer also keeps reminder-related work alongside note creation, export/import, settings, and help.
Categories and a Clearer Note Library
Categories add structure when a simple note list starts to grow. You can create color-coded groups for projects, shopping, journaling, work, or personal ideas, then use the Categories tab and the app's navigation tools to move between related notes. Search, fast scrolling, and filtering are especially helpful when older voice memos need to be found quickly.
The navigation drawer collects All notes, Export/import, Cloud/Sync, Statistics, and Help in one place, so everyday capture and longer-term management stay connected. Export and import can help move a collection to another device, while category colors give recurring subjects a visual identity without making the library feel complicated.
Audio, Display, and Personal Controls
Voice notes includes settings for shaping how the app behaves during everyday use. You can choose Speech recognition as the default note type, open Audio file settings for recording time, file quality, and storage choices, and decide whether new text is saved automatically. Date display, grouping, and text size controls make the note list easier to scan at your preferred pace.
The wider customization layer includes color palettes and a dark-mode option for different lighting conditions, along with local password protection for people who want an extra access barrier around private notes. These controls make the app flexible for quick capture, regular journaling, and a quieter end-of-day review routine.
