Sky Cultures, Night Mode, and Time Travel
The app makes the sky a changing subject rather than a fixed picture. Explore constellation shapes and illustrations from different sky cultures, compare how a region looks from another location, and use the date and time controls to preview the sky beyond tonight. This is useful for planning a lesson, preparing a viewing session, or simply understanding why familiar patterns move.
A red night mode supports darker observing conditions, while atmosphere and landscape simulation add context near the horizon. The side menu keeps Sky Cultures, Tours, Settings, Help & feedback, and the main sky view in one route, so casual users can start with a quick tour and return to the map without learning a complicated control system.
Telescope Planning and Offline Observation
For users who take astronomy further, Stellarium Plus expands the observing workflow with a larger catalog, higher-detail imagery, and tools for deciding when a target is visible. The Plus tier also supports compatible GOTO telescopes through Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, turning the phone from a reference screen into a planning and control companion.
Field use can continue with a reduced offline catalog, including millions of stars, deep-sky objects, and solar-system targets, when the relevant data is available on the device. Beginners can stay with the free sky map, while committed observers can choose extra depth, equipment control, and session planning as their needs grow.
