Pair Devices as VPN Client or Server
PairVPN's central workflow gives each device a clear role. Run the connecting device as a VPN Client when it should use the other device's network, or choose VPN Server on a phone, tablet, or computer that will share its connection. The Android home screen keeps both choices visible, so a first-time setup can begin without searching through layered menus.
Once the roles are chosen, PairVPN builds a private path between the two devices instead of asking the user to subscribe to a shared VPN fleet. This is useful for reaching a trusted home network while away, protecting traffic on public Wi-Fi, or using a familiar connection when traveling. The Client and Server labels make the workflow easy to explain to another person before pairing.
Six-Digit Pairing and Tunnel Permissions
PairVPN uses a one-time pairing step to connect the client and server. On the connecting device, select New Server to receive a six-digit code, then enter that code on the server side. After pairing, the client can reconnect to the server without repeating the whole setup, which is practical for a laptop, tablet, or phone that returns to the same home network.
Server-side controls let you choose how much of the network the client can use. Internet Only is the cautious default for web access, while Local Only or a narrower whitelist can expose selected home or office resources. An optional local password adds another gate when several people can reach the client device.
Remote Home Access and Local Resources
A paired connection lets an outside device act as part of a home or office network. PairVPN's server mode can expose selected shared folders, database services, Remote Desktop, VNC, or other internal resources while keeping the permission scope under the owner's control. That makes the app useful for personal file access, light remote administration, and checking a device that normally sits behind a home router.
The same tunnel can also help a client browse through the server's internet connection or use streaming services from a familiar location. Connection quality depends on the slower internet link, and a relay path may add latency when a direct route is unavailable. Users who need stable remote access should keep both devices online and choose the narrowest permissions that fit the task.
Hotspot Sharing and One-Connection Use
PairVPN can sit on top of a phone's mobile hotspot when a computer or tablet needs to use the phone's data connection. Turn on the hotspot first, run the phone in VPN Server mode, start Client mode on the connected device, and pair the two sides. This arrangement is helpful when a carrier limits or throttles ordinary hotspot traffic, although the phone still needs a working hotspot or USB-tethering setup.
The app is designed for personal use and allows one active connection at a time, although multiple clients can be paired with the same server. Direct connections usually provide the best path; symmetric NAT can send traffic through a relay and increase latency. Keep both sides connected and monitor the carrier plan when a long session moves substantial data.
