Network Utilities starts with an Information workspace that puts the most useful connection facts in one place. The Network tab can display an external IP, host name, localhost address, connection mode, and MAC address, giving you a quick reference before you investigate a device or service. The same screen keeps Network, Analyzer, and Statistics tabs close together, so a basic status check can lead naturally into a deeper look at the local Wi-Fi environment.
This overview suits home troubleshooting, classroom labs, and small-office support where you need to identify what the phone currently knows about its connection. Instead of opening separate settings pages for each value, you can compare the visible network state and then move to a diagnostic tool from the same app workspace.
Wi-Fi Analysis and Traffic Statistics
The Information area also acts as a starting point for Wi-Fi investigation. The Analyzer tab is designed for inspecting nearby wireless conditions, while Statistics provides a separate view for traffic-related activity. Together they help users move from a general connection snapshot toward questions such as whether a network is visible, how a connection is behaving, or which part of a setup needs more attention.
Android may require location access before the app can read Wi-Fi identifiers such as an SSID. Once the relevant access is available, these tabs are useful for checking a home router, comparing coverage around a workspace, or collecting context before changing network settings. The separate tabs keep routine checks readable rather than mixing every value into one crowded screen.
IP Scans and Service Diagnostics
Network Utilities combines discovery and testing tools for network diagnosis. IP Discover can look for devices on a Wi-Fi network, while the IP range scanner searches selected addresses and can filter hosts by open ports. Ping and traceroute help examine reachability and route behavior; port scanning, DNS records, the IP calculator, and Whois add more detail when a host or address needs closer inspection.
A server checker extends the workflow beyond one device by testing availability through HTTP, HTTPS, ICMP, or TCP. These tools are useful for administrators, students, and curious users who want to move from “something is not responding” to a specific check. The menu-based layout makes it practical to pick one focused test instead of running a diagnostic suite every time.
Remote Access, UPnP, and Advanced Workflows
For more involved jobs, the app includes a Telnet and SSH client that can work as a terminal emulator, plus UPnP scanning and control for finding devices and calling methods exposed by their services. Wake On LAN adds a convenient way to reach a sleeping computer on a compatible network. These features give the toolkit a useful bridge between inspection and hands-on network administration.
Some deeper functions depend on the Android version or device setup. Connections and real-time monitoring are documented for Android 9 and lower, while root mode enables packet sniffing, hex inspection, PCAP file handling, and packet crafting with Ethernet, ARP, IP, UDP, TCP, or ICMP headers. Multiple tools can stay open in separate tabs for a longer troubleshooting session.
