Link School Accounts on Shared Tablets
myON turns an Android tablet into a personal reading shelf tied to a student’s school access. A first-time user can link a profile by choosing the school, entering a username, and using a password or myON PIN. After the profile is added, the user list makes returning to the app simpler on shared classroom or family devices.
Teachers can also bring a class roster onto one tablet, allowing students to select their names instead of repeatedly typing credentials. The built-in help area explains browser-based linking and manual account setup, so schools can choose the method that fits their sign-in system. This shared-device design is especially useful for reading centers, libraries, and take-home tablet programs.
Build an Offline Book Shelf
Books can be added to the device from myON’s collection, giving students a local shelf they can use when an Internet connection is unavailable. The app supports browsing or text search, and it can keep up to 20 downloaded titles ready for offline reading. A simple sort menu organizes the shelf by title, series, or author when several books are stored.
Opening a title first shows practical details such as author, illustrator, publisher, series, page count, running time, reading level, and ATOS information when available. Students can then start the book or remove it from the device. This makes it easier to choose an appropriate text before reading and manage limited tablet storage.
Read Along with Audio and Highlighting
myON’s book player combines illustrated pages with controls that support independent and guided reading. Students can swipe between pages, pause or resume narration, zoom for a closer look, and open page-navigation tools. The reader can highlight words and sentences alongside audio, helping learners connect spoken language with the text on screen.
Each title may also provide book information, publisher details, a table of contents, an index, or a glossary, depending on the material. Progress controls show how far the reader has moved through a book and make it possible to return to earlier pages. These options suit quiet reading, read-along practice, and repeated review of difficult sections.
Sync Reading After Reconnecting
The mobile app is designed for reading beyond a constant classroom connection. It records reading activity while a student is offline and sends that usage to the myON account after the tablet reconnects and the app is opened. Because syncing is queued, updated reading time may not appear immediately in the wider myON service.
For reliable use, accounts and new book downloads need an Internet connection before offline sessions begin. Students can prepare a small collection at school, read at home or while traveling, and sync later without losing credit for completed reading. The workflow is useful for households and schools with intermittent bandwidth, while keeping student reading activity connected to the same account.
