Build a Virtual PC from the Main Machine Panel
Limbo's main screen is built around a configurable virtual machine rather than a fixed game or desktop image. Start by creating a machine, then choose a machine type and CPU model, set the number of emulated cores, assign RAM, and decide which parts of the virtual hardware should be active. The central controls let you start, pause, stop, or return to a machine while the selected profile remains visible for the next session.
This workflow works well for trying an older operating system, trying a lightweight Linux image, or keeping a separate legacy environment on an Android device. The machine selector and profile-based layout make it easier to switch between setups instead of rebuilding hardware choices every time.
Tune Display, Keyboard, Mouse, and Input
Input and display choices determine whether an emulated desktop feels usable on a small touchscreen. Limbo lets you select the display path, with VNC available in the User Interface panel and SDL or an external VNC client supported for different viewing preferences. Keyboard and mouse entries can be adjusted independently, including the visible en-us keyboard and ps2 mouse options in the current configuration.
These controls are useful when a guest system needs more than simple touch taps. You can match the display mode to the device, map familiar input hardware, and work with desktop interfaces that expect a pointer and physical-style keys. That flexibility makes Limbo more practical for software experiments and older systems than a one-size-fits-all emulator shell.
Attach Disks, Removable Media, and Boot Files
Virtual media is the bridge between the Android host and the guest system. Limbo separates Disks, Removable media, and Boot controls so you can attach hard-drive images, CD-ROM-style media, and startup resources to a machine profile. The app also provides menu actions for importing and exporting machines, and the current release adds QEMU hard-drive interfaces and an option to import a custom BIOS.
This arrangement gives users a clear place to prepare the files a guest needs before pressing Start. It is suited to installing FreeDOS, Windows, KolibriOS, or a lightweight GNU/Linux distribution from compatible images, while separate machine profiles help keep experiments organized. Use only operating-system images and software you have the right to use.
Shape Graphics, Audio, Network, and Advanced Options
Limbo exposes the hardware categories that shape how a guest operating system behaves. Graphics, Audio, and Network panels let you choose the corresponding emulated devices, while Advanced settings provide deeper controls for experienced users. Board options include CPU cores, RAM, MTTCG, KVM, HPET, TSC, and ACPI choices, giving you room to balance compatibility against performance.
The app also includes settings, advanced tools, a log viewer, help, changelog, and license pages in its menu, so troubleshooting information is close to the machine profile. KVM can improve performance on compatible x86-based Android hardware, while full CPU emulation is more demanding; older or lightweight guests are the more realistic starting point for mobile experimentation.
