Keet makes private communication revolve around rooms rather than a phone-number contact list. Users can join or create spaces for one-to-one conversations, group chats, or community discussions, then exchange text with the people in that room. Direct messages can begin from a username, a profile, or a shared @username, giving users several ways to connect without posting personal contact details.
The room model also supports roles and different participation styles. A group can be private for friends or collaboration, while broadcast feeds can deliver one-way updates and reactions. This structure gives Keet a flexible home for everyday chats, focused communities, and announcements that do not need a conventional social network.
Audio and Video Calls for Groups
Keet extends its messaging flow with peer-to-peer audio and video calls. Users can start a direct call from an accepted conversation, or use group calls when the room allows them. That makes the same space useful for quick voice check-ins, face-to-face conversations, and small group coordination instead of moving between separate apps.
Video calls are designed around direct connections, and the platform also supports media sharing during conversations. On supported devices and app versions, camera and microphone controls determine what participants can send. For privacy-minded teams, families, and communities, the call layer keeps conversation, voice, and video close to the room where the relationship already exists.
Recovery Phrase Profile Setup
The first-run profile flow gives Keet a distinct identity model. New users can choose Quick setup, which generates and stores a recovery phrase on the device, or Manual setup, which lets them generate and manage the phrase outside the device. The choice makes profile recovery a deliberate part of setup rather than an invisible account detail.
A display name identifies how other people see the profile and can be changed later from Profile settings. Users can also restore an existing profile, move it to another device with a recovery phrase or secure sync method, and keep control of the credentials that represent them. Anyone starting a new profile should store the recovery phrase carefully before continuing.
File Sharing and Broadcast Feeds
Keet treats files and media as part of the conversation rather than a separate cloud drive. In a room, users can attach photos, videos, and other files, keep personal notes in a private group, and use message search or a contact book to find important conversations and peers. Direct device-to-device transfer is designed for sharing large projects and media without a fixed size limit.
Community spaces add another layer to the same workflow. A group can be private for a family or team, grow into a larger community, or work as a broadcast feed for one-way updates. Notification controls, message deletion, location sharing, and media-cache settings help users adapt the experience to everyday communication.
