Email, eCards, and Ongoing Contact
JPay brings several ways to communicate with an incarcerated contact into one account. Users can compose and receive emails, write to multiple recipients, attach photos or eCards, and prepay a reply when that option is available. New-message notifications and saved drafts help conversations continue without rebuilding a message after leaving the compose screen.
The service also uses purchased stamps for email and media messaging, so communication tools sit beside account balance controls rather than in a separate app. Contacts are linked by state and inmate ID, allowing one profile to manage more than one person. Availability varies by facility, but the core workflow is designed for families and friends who need a practical mobile channel for ongoing contact.
Trust Account Transfers and Media Funding
Money transfers give users a direct way to support an incarcerated person’s trust account from Android. A transfer can be made with a credit or debit card, and recurring transfers can be scheduled for users who provide support on a regular basis. Keeping payment methods inside the account reduces the need to re-enter card details for every eligible transaction.
JPay also connects financial support with media access. Users can fund a contact’s media account for stamps, music, games, accessories, and other tablet content where the facility supports those services. Payment options can be added or edited from settings, making it easier to separate one-time transfers from recurring support and media purchases.
Snap n’ Send Photos and VideoGrams
Photo and video tools make messages more personal than plain text alone. Snap n’ Send is built for sending a single picture quickly, while email attachments can include photos taken with the camera, images already stored on the phone, or eCards selected inside the app. These options let users choose between a quick visual update and a longer written message.
VideoGrams add a short recorded format to the same communication flow. Users select a contact, record a clip of up to 30 seconds, review the result, and send it with an optional prepaid reply when available. The short format suits greetings, family updates, and moments that are easier to share visually than describe in writing.
Contacts, Payment Methods, and Alerts
Account controls help users maintain the details that communication and transfer features depend on. Existing users can sign in with email and password, while newcomers can create an account before adding an incarcerated contact. A profile can store contact records, payment methods, notification preferences, and reminders such as a low stamp balance alert.
Settings also support everyday housekeeping. Users can add a contact by state and inmate ID, remove contacts they no longer need, update saved cards, and manage message notifications. Because products and services differ by state and facility, the available home-screen tiles may not be identical for every contact. Checking the recipient’s facility support before planning a transfer, VideoGram, or media purchase helps avoid unnecessary steps.
