Open the companion to send chat messages, answer a friend, or use Quick Messages when a short reply is more useful than typing a full note. This makes it practical to confirm plans, explain that you are busy, or keep a group conversation moving from a phone.
The communication layer is designed around EA gaming groups rather than a general-purpose messenger. Notifications can bring new messages and game invitations back to the phone, so a player can notice a squad request while doing something else and return when ready. Supported games and social features can vary, but the app gives players one place to stay connected between sessions.
Status Notes for Mood and Availability
A status note gives friends a quick picture of your mood, availability, or what you would like to play. EA Connect can pair that note with an emoji or a short phrase, letting you signal that you are ready to team up, looking for a particular game, or simply away without starting a long conversation. It is useful when friends need context before sending an invitation.
In version 1.2.10, the mobile Status entry is available from the avatar area at the top left. Update the note when your plans change, then let the shared message speak for you while you move between games or daily tasks. This lightweight signal helps a group coordinate with less back-and-forth.
Friend Search and Game Invitations
Friend search helps connect an EA ID with a supported platform username, so you can look for people you already know and send a request. The social list can also surface recent players, giving a group another way to reconnect after a match. Once friends are added, their online or offline context helps you decide when a conversation or invitation is likely to be useful.
Game invitations and lobby activity turn that friend list into a planning tool. A player can follow a party request, respond to a teammate, and use notifications to keep an eye on a session forming across supported EA games. Search, requests, and invitations work together for players who regularly organize a squad instead of playing alone.
Social Controls for Your EA Account
EA Connect requires an EA Account for its social tools, then provides controls for online status, notifications, and other interaction preferences. Adjusting these settings helps the app fit the way you play: you can decide which alerts deserve attention, keep a concise Quick Message style, and present availability in a way friends can understand. Internet access is needed for the connected features to work.
Social controls also include options to remove, mute, block, or report another player, with accessibility and social-setting choices available where a supported game exposes them. These controls are useful when a group changes, a conversation becomes distracting, or you want clearer boundaries while keeping the rest of your EA connections available.
