Cricut Design Space turns an Android phone or tablet into a portable planning surface for cards, labels, apparel graphics, stickers, décor, and other machine-made crafts. Start with a blank Canvas, then add text, basic shapes, images, or templates to establish the size and layout of the idea before preparing any material.
Mobile editing tools let you resize and rotate objects, undo changes, arrange the layer order, duplicate elements, group related pieces, and align colors across a project. A camera-backed Canvas can also help visualize a design on a shirt or another surface. This workflow is useful when inspiration arrives away from a desk and you want to shape the project while the details are fresh.
Find Ready-to-Make Ideas and Design Assets
The Home area gives crafters a faster route into a project when they do not want to build every element from the beginning. Ready-to-Make projects cover areas such as paper crafts, home décor, fashion, and cards, while searchable images and fonts provide components that can be personalized for a specific name, occasion, color scheme, or gift.
Project detail pages can include difficulty, estimated completion time, required materials, and instructions. Choosing Customize opens an editable version on the Canvas, while Make It moves a suitable design toward mat preparation. Saved and bookmarked items remain organized under the same Cricut ID, so a project can move between mobile and desktop devices through account-based syncing.
Upload Artwork and Refine Layered Designs
Crafters can bring personal artwork into Cricut Design Space instead of relying only on the built-in library. The Android upload flow accepts images saved on the device, including SVG and common raster formats, and adds a finished upload to the Canvas. Naming and tagging uploaded assets makes them easier to locate again when building later projects.
Image cleanup options help crop unwanted areas, erase backgrounds, undo edits, and choose whether the result should become a single-layer cut, a flat graphic, or a color-separated layered design when that option is available. Once on the Canvas, the artwork can be combined with text, shapes, and other images, giving custom logos, illustrations, and decorations a practical path into Cricut projects.
Prepare the Mat and Connect a Cricut Machine
After a design is arranged, the Make action moves the project into preparation for cutting, drawing, scoring, or another operation supported by the selected Cricut machine. Users can review the mat layout, choose the relevant machine model, and make sure the project settings match the material and tool they plan to use before sending the job.
On Android, compatible Cricut machines connect through Bluetooth, with Nearby devices permission used for pairing on newer Android versions. New owners can begin from Machine Setup, while returning users sign in with a Cricut ID to reach saved work and machine controls. This final stage links the creative Canvas to a physical craft without requiring the phone to remain a separate planning tool.
