Draw Pixel Art on a Touchscreen
Pixly puts a zoomable artboard at the center of the workspace, so you can build pixel graphics one deliberate mark at a time. Drag with one finger to apply the selected tool, use two fingers to pan or zoom, and adjust brush size with a three-finger gesture when you want faster control over a larger area.
The color selector keeps primary and secondary colors close to the canvas, while contextual tools make switching between brush, eraser, picker, and other actions less disruptive. Brush size, hardness, opacity, and background choices help the same workspace handle crisp sprite details as well as broader blocks of color.
Animate Frames with Layers and Onion Skinning
Pixly extends a still drawing into a frame-based animation workspace. Use the Timeline to manage frames, preview motion, and refine a sequence without leaving the artboard. Onion skinning places neighboring frames behind or ahead of the active drawing, making it easier to compare positions and create smoother movement.
Layers add another level of control for complex or modular scenes, and the Mini view offers a quick preview at a customizable zoom. Together, frames, layers, and preview tools suit game artists who need to iterate on a character, effect, or short scene while keeping individual visual elements easier to adjust. This makes motion easier to inspect during revisions.
Shape Color Palettes and Precision Tools
Pixel work often depends on repeatable color choices and careful selection. Pixly supports imported JASC-PAL, ACT, and ACO palettes, recent colors, and RGB, CMY, HSB, or HUSL color systems. You can add colors to existing palettes, mix colors, and use ramps when a scene needs a controlled range of tones.
Selection, magic-wand, and selection-brush tools combine with rectangles, circles, spray, text, gradients, patterns, arcs, curves, filters, and color replacement. Configurable grids, rulers, references, symmetry mirrors, and touch coordinates help line up small details or repeat a design across a larger canvas. They help keep repeated tiles and sprite details visually consistent.
Build Game-Ready Artwork on Android
Pixly is aimed at game-development art as well as casual pixel drawing, so it fits projects that need icons, character art, environment pieces, or animated effects. A transparent or solid background, free transform, canvas resizing, and advanced copy-and-paste let you reshape a design as the project grows.
Copy any selection to another layer or frame, tile images in real time, and use customizable background colors or grids to keep the composition readable. The interface is designed for touchscreens and small or large displays, making Pixly a practical companion for sketching assets during a short break or refining a scene at a desk.
