Schedule Appointments and Manage Visits
Appointment tools help established IU Health patients arrange routine care without relying on a phone call. Eligible visits can be self-scheduled at any time, including virtual appointments with select primary care providers, while other needs can be sent as an appointment request for office follow-up. This makes the portal useful for both immediate booking and less standard visit types.
The scheduling path lets users search by visit reason, provider, or specialty, choose a convenient location, and review available dates and times. Existing appointments can also be managed from the portal, although cancellation and rescheduling options depend on the appointment type and timing. These controls keep everyday visit planning connected to the same patient account.
Review Medical Records and Lab Results
The Medical Record area brings together information patients often need after visits. Users can open clinical notes and visit summaries, review lab results, and find available pathology, radiology, or microbiology reports. Individual documents can be downloaded when a portable copy is useful for personal reference or a conversation with another care provider.
Results can be filtered by date range, and certain measurements can be graphed over time to make changes easier to follow. Available content depends on what has been completed and posted to the patient record, so the app works best as a convenient access point rather than a substitute for clinical explanation. Questions about a result should still go to the relevant care team.
Secure Messages and Prescription Renewals
Secure messaging gives patients a direct account-based channel for non-urgent questions related to prior care. Messages can be sent to participating providers without switching to regular email, helping users keep routine conversations tied to the health portal. Because replies may take time, the feature is intended for follow-up communication rather than urgent or emergency needs.
Prescription renewal requests are handled from the Current Medications area. Patients can select an eligible medication, choose the provider, explain the reason and quantity needed, and state whether they prefer a reply by secure message or phone. The request goes to the provider for review, while ordinary pharmacy refills that do not require a renewal remain a separate pharmacy task.
Pay Bills and Control Account Alerts
Billing access lets patients view and pay eligible IU Health charges from the same portal used for care information. Keeping bills beside appointments, messages, and records reduces the need to move among unrelated services for routine account management. Personal details, contact information, and insurance information are also available within the patient profile when users need to review what is on file.
Account alerts can notify users when new health information or a secure message becomes available. Email, text, and supported mobile notification options help patients choose how they want to receive updates, while language settings support English and Spanish. These controls make the app most useful for people who regularly manage IU Health care and want a consistent mobile entry point.
