Build Key Maps from Real Inputs
Key Mapper turns inputs from phone buttons, keyboards, game controllers, mice, headsets, and fingerprint sensors into configurable triggers. A key map can respond to a single press, a long press, a double press, several buttons together, or a sequence of presses. The key-map workspace keeps rules visible: rename groups, add subgroups, disable a rule, or return to the home screen after configuring shortcuts.
A mapping is built around a trigger and an action, so the same hardware input can have different jobs in different groups. This is useful for a camera shutter shortcut, a media control, a work-mode command, or an accessibility-friendly alternative to repeated touch navigation. Keeping related rules in their group also makes it easier to adjust one set of shortcuts without disturbing the rest of the device.
Turn Triggers into Useful Actions
The action catalogue covers phone and automation tasks, not just key swaps. You can open an app, send a key code, insert text, tap or swipe at a position, use pinch gestures, launch an intent, change volume or ringer behavior, control media, toggle connectivity, change orientation, use the flashlight, or take a screenshot. Multiple actions can be chained so one deliberate trigger handles a short routine.
This flexibility suits both quick personal shortcuts and repeatable workflows. A spare button can start a frequently used app, a headset control can manage playback, or a keyboard combination can perform a touch gesture that is awkward to reach. Each action remains editable inside its mapping, letting you change the command, reorder steps, or disable the whole rule while keeping the original input available.
Place Floating Buttons Where You Need Them
Floating buttons add movable on-screen controls for actions that are easier to tap than to remember. You can choose a label and size, drag a button to a comfortable position, adjust its appearance, and attach the same trigger-and-action logic used by physical inputs. A layout can put several controls together, giving you a compact panel for navigation, media, gaming, or one-handed use.
The overlay stays available across apps, including games and the lock screen when Android allows it. You can hide or show the controls, switch between layouts, and move buttons away from content when they get in the way. Floating controls may be hidden while the Android keyboard is open, so the active layout remains practical for typing.
Keep Shortcuts Context-Aware
Constraints let a mapping run only in the situation you choose. Rules can check the foreground app, whether media is playing, Bluetooth state, orientation, screen or lock-screen state, an active call, a time window, or charging status. Conditions can be combined with AND or OR logic, which helps one physical button behave differently at home, in a game, during playback, or while the screen is locked.
The settings area provides practical controls for maintaining a growing shortcut library, including automatic backups, restore options, home alerts, notification behavior, default mapping choices, and device-specific preferences. Version 4.3.0 lists display-resolution and ringer-mode constraints and sets “do not remap” as the default preference. Together, these controls make it easier to keep mappings predictable as your device and daily routines change.
