Explore Measurements on the Map
The Map tab connects a current position to an address and a visual map. It can display latitude, longitude, altitude, elevation, distance, and the reading date beneath the map, helping users relate raw coordinates to a recognizable place. Locate, marker, search, framing, and full-screen controls make it easier to inspect the surrounding area without leaving the app.
Multiple map styles support different tasks, including normal, terrain, hybrid, and satellite views. Address search can help plan a visit or return to a known point, while the current-position controls are useful during travel. A data connection is needed for elevation lookups and online map details, so users heading into weak-signal areas should capture important readings before connectivity drops.
Save, Sort, and Revisit Places
Saved locations give GPS Altitude a simple field notebook beyond one-time readings. Users can store a place, attach a photo, and later browse recorded points from a dedicated list or map. Sorting and filtering by name, date, distance, or keywords can make a growing collection easier to manage after trips, site visits, or repeated measurements.
Location records can also support sharing and reuse. The app provides import and export options for GPX, KML, and its MYGPS format, allowing measurements and related photos to move into other mapping or record-keeping workflows. Cloud synchronization and Wear OS support offer additional ways to keep places available across devices, while compass navigation can guide users back toward a saved point.

GPS Altitude includes controls for adapting readings to different field habits. Coordinate formats cover decimal degrees, degrees and decimal minutes, degrees-minutes-seconds, UTM, and MGRS, while unit options include meters, feet, kilometers, yards, miles, and nautical miles. Settings also provide app language, keep-screen-on behavior, map choices, and adjustable location accuracy for balancing precision with battery use.
The camera tool can place location information on photos, with options to change the label position, color, and size. Sharing can send current coordinates to other people, and the SOS feature can prepare a custom recipient and message for emergencies.
