Flight planning is the central workflow in FltPlan Go. Pilots can create and file a route through FltPlan.com or work from the Android app, then keep the plan synchronized across the service. The moving-map view supports interactive route edits, sectionals, enroute charts, approach procedures, and layers for airports, airspace, fuel prices, and temporary flight restrictions.
The app organizes primary areas such as Airports, Maps, NavLogs, Weather, and Tracking in a persistent side menu. Split-screen options can place route information beside procedures, checklists, or flight instruments, while breadcrumbs and Howgozit progress help users follow a trip as it develops. This structure keeps both planning and in-flight reference tools within a consistent navigation system.
Airport Data, Weather, and Route Awareness
Airport research combines operational details with weather information needed before departure. Users can review airport and FBO data, fuel prices, diagrams, approach plates, NOTAMs, and remarks, then check METARs, TAFs, PIREPs, MOS forecasts, winds, and animated weather for an airport or route. Map overlays make these details easier to interpret in geographic context.
For in-flight awareness, compatible equipment can add GPS position, ADS-B traffic, and weather to the map. Cloud Tops, search-and-rescue patterns, a course deviation indicator, and live tracking extend the app beyond a static chart viewer. Because some feeds depend on connected hardware or services, pilots can choose the tools that fit their aircraft and planned flight rather than treating every layer as universally available.
Offline NavLogs, Checklists, and Binders
FltPlan Go can keep frequently needed trip material organized for use away from a reliable connection. NavLogs synchronize with FltPlan.com and download for offline access, and users can email or print them when another copy is useful. Aircraft-specific checklists also synchronize from the web service, giving pilots a familiar reference during recurring preflight and cockpit routines.
Binders group documents around a particular flight, including procedures, airport material, NavLogs, and weather briefs. A Downloads area supports the app's stored content, while the visible storage alert explains that file access is needed to save downloaded material on the device. Together, these tools reduce the need to search through unrelated folders when preparing or reviewing a trip.
Connected Avionics and Everyday Pilot Tools
The External area is designed for pilots who want FltPlan Go to exchange data with other aviation systems. Supported connections include selected Garmin, Dynon, and Avidyne avionics, several ADS-B and GPS receivers, Garmin Pilot app-to-app transfer, and simulator links such as X-Plane and FSX or Prepar3D. Available capabilities vary by connected unit, service, and aircraft setup.
Beyond navigation, the app includes weight-and-balance calculations, eLogbook entries, aviation calculators, PDC access, a ScratchPad, and direct access to FltPlan.com. These supporting tools can handle small but frequent tasks without leaving the electronic flight bag.
