Compatible JPEG images and supported MP4 or MOV clips can be copied for quick sharing, while original RAW files are resized to JPEG and some movie formats cannot be saved. That makes it useful for sending a few finished images on the road, while keeping a larger editing workflow on the camera or computer.

Location tools add a travel-friendly layer. Camera Connect can use the phone's location information and attach it to images on the camera, helping a photo record where it was made. Because GPS data can reveal people or places, review image metadata before sharing publicly, especially when photos were made at home, work, or a private event.
Firmware Updates and Everyday Camera Workflows
Camera Connect can surface and transfer the latest firmware for compatible cameras, giving photographers a phone-based path for keeping camera features current without removing a card or finding a computer. It also links to Canon services and can pass images into compatible Canon apps for editing or printing, helping a capture session continue after the shutter closes.
The app fits several recurring routines: checking a camera's images during travel, sending a small selection to a client, preparing a remote setup, or adding location context to a trip album. Android 13 or later is required by this package, and a compatible Canon camera plus Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection is needed for the workflows that depend on camera linking.
