Split Purchases with Pay in 4
Afterpay centers on splitting eligible purchases into a planned repayment schedule. Pay in 4 generally divides a purchase into four installments over six weeks, while eligible shoppers and orders may also receive monthly plan options. The app presents the available choices before a transaction is confirmed, so users can compare the schedule and understand what will be due.
This workflow is designed for purchases from participating brands rather than unrestricted borrowing. Approval, spending limits, fees, interest, and plan availability can vary by customer, merchant, order value, and location. That makes the schedule review an important part of each checkout, especially for shoppers balancing several upcoming payments.
Discover Brands, Deals, and Gift Cards
The Shop area helps users browse participating retailers and product categories without starting from a separate store search. Fashion, beauty, home, technology, travel, and other collections can appear alongside curated roundups and app-exclusive promotions, giving shoppers a central place to compare brands that accept Afterpay.
Selected online retailers also support Single-Use Payment inside the app, where a shopper enters the purchase amount and confirms the offered schedule before checkout details are completed. Gift cards from participating brands provide another route for planned purchases or sending a gift. Merchant availability and the choices shown can differ between accounts, so the catalog is personalized rather than identical for every user.
Use the Afterpay Card in Stores
Afterpay can support in-store purchases through the Afterpay Card for eligible accounts. Users set up the card in the app, add it to a compatible digital wallet, check the amount available to spend, and activate it before tapping their phone at a participating checkout. This brings the same planned-payment idea to physical shopping without requiring a separate plastic card.
The Card tab also helps users find nearby stores that accept Afterpay and keeps the wallet action close to the spending information. Account verification and store participation still apply, and the final payment schedule should be reviewed before completing a purchase. For regular in-store shoppers, the guided sequence makes card setup, store discovery, and tap-to-pay access easier to manage from one place.
Track Orders, Payments, and Account Alerts
After a purchase, the app organizes orders and their installment dates so users can see what is scheduled next. Payments can be handled automatically from a saved method or made manually from an order when that option is available. Users may also adjust an eligible payment day, review their current spending amount, and follow account activity without returning to each retailer.
Notification controls can provide reminders for scheduled installments, account events, special offers, and newly available brands. The account area also connects users with help articles and customer support chat when an order, refund, or payment needs attention. Together, these tools make Afterpay useful beyond checkout by keeping repayment tasks, order records, alerts, and support within the same account.
