USB Camera gives Android users a direct way to work with UVC webcams, USB video grabbers, EasyCap adapters, endoscopes, and external USB audio inputs. After connecting compatible hardware through OTG, the main interface presents the live input area and the controls needed to begin a recording or take a snapshot. This makes a phone useful as a compact monitor, inspection viewer, or capture station.
The workflow suits field technicians, hobbyists, and creators who need to bring a camera or HDMI feed into a mobile setup. The app supports common video formats such as H.264, H.265, HEVC, MJPEG, YUY2, P010, and NV12, while progressive and interlaced signals can be handled by supported grabbers. A webcam snapshot button can also trigger captures without reaching for the screen.
RTSP, HTTP, RTMP, and SRT Streaming
USB Camera can turn an attached feed into a network camera through its built-in RTSP and HTTP services. A browser or another client can view the stream while the phone remains connected to the USB hardware, which is useful for remote monitoring, demonstrations, and small studio setups. The app can also combine USB audio with a built-in microphone or system audio when the hardware and Android device support the mix.
For live publishing, RTMP and SRT outputs provide routes to media servers, including secure RTMPS connections and multiple destinations at once. These options give streamers more control over where the video travels instead of limiting the workflow to local recording. Picture-in-picture and side-by-side viewing add practical choices for FPV goggles, teaching, and camera-to-screen demonstrations.
Overlays, Loop Recording, and Background Operation
Recording tools go beyond a simple start-and-stop button. USB Camera can stamp video frames with time, GPS, speed, and other details, then keep a rolling archive with automatic segmenting and deletion when storage becomes tight. Motion-triggered recording can upload clips to an FTP server and send an email notice, giving monitoring tasks a way to continue without constant manual attention.
The app also supports picture-in-picture, video overlays, and animated GIF or WebP watermark images. Overlay visibility can be controlled from Settings, while Enter background allows the recording session to continue as the app moves out of the foreground. Together, these controls fit dashcam-style driving, workshop observation, security views, and any situation where a phone needs to keep capturing while another task is visible.
Practical Setup for Webcams and Capture Cards
USB Camera is most useful when the mobile setup is planned around the attached device. A powered OTG path, a compatible UVC webcam or capture card, and a stable cable help maintain a usable preview. The main screen lists webcams, endoscopes, EasyCap devices, video grabbers, and USB audio inputs as practical examples, so users can match the app to an inspection, streaming, or recording task.
The More options menu keeps Settings, Enter background, Picture In Picture, and Exit within reach. It can serve as a portable endoscope viewer, field monitor, classroom demonstration tool, or lightweight IP-camera station. Advanced settings remain available from the same menu, allowing occasional users and technical operators to choose the controls they need.
