Cycle display timeouts from a compact home-screen control
Screen Timeout Widget puts the main timeout switch on the home screen, so a user can change display behavior without opening Android Settings. Add the widget, choose the interval values to cycle through, and tap it when a different screen-on period is useful. The control is intentionally compact, making it practical beside a clock, reading app, recipe, or workout timer.
The available sequence runs from one second, five seconds, fifteen seconds, thirty seconds, and sixty seconds through two, five, ten, and thirty minutes, plus Never switched off. This range covers quick battery-saving checks as well as situations where the display needs to remain visible.
Reach the same timeout control from notifications and Quick Settings
The same timeout choices can be reached from the notification panel, giving users a control that remains available while another app is open. This is useful when following instructions, monitoring a live timer, or checking a reference without leaving the current task to search through system menus.
On Android 7 and later, Screen Timeout Widget can also be placed in Quick Settings. Add the tile through Android's button-order editor, then tap it alongside other system controls. The currently active widget is synchronized with the notification and Quick Settings controls, so switching in one place keeps the other entry points aligned.
Configure separate widget routines for different parts of the day
Each added Screen Timeout Widget can be configured with its own selectable timeout sequence. That makes it possible to keep a short everyday setting on one home-screen location while reserving longer intervals for reading, cooking, navigation, or desk work. The widget's visible label makes the current choice easy to recognize at a glance.
The package also provides notification-widget configuration options, including a notification-bar widget and an insistent notification choice. Users can decide how prominent the control should be, then keep the selector close to the routine that needs it. Multiple entry points reduce the need to revisit Android's deeper display settings.
Fit screen behavior to reading, work, and battery habits
The utility is most helpful when screen timeout needs change throughout the day. A short interval can help conserve battery during ordinary phone use, while a longer value keeps a recipe, exercise plan, transit detail, or reference page visible for hands-free glances. Selecting Never is available for tasks that need continuous viewing, but it should be used with battery and privacy habits in mind.
Because the controls live on the home screen, in notifications, and optionally in Quick Settings, the workflow fits both quick changes and repeated routines. It is a focused tool for timeout switching rather than a general display customizer, battery dashboard, or automation platform.
