Awarding points is the central staff workflow in RCA House Points. Teachers can choose individual students, an existing roster, or an entire House, then select a recognition category that matches the achievement. Academic excellence, character, performance, and school spirit can all become visible contributions to a student's personal record and the wider House total.
The award flow supports quick recognition as well as more detailed entries. Staff can select recipients, add an optional note, review the point value, and submit the award from the Android app. Simple and advanced entry choices help with a single on-the-spot reward or several point values at once, making the system useful in classrooms, hallways, events, and whole-school activities.
Guardian Updates and Student Point History
Guardians use RCA House Points to stay connected with positive moments that happen during the school day. A child's history collects the points awarded over time, giving families a clearer record of recognition than a score shared only at the end of a term. Staff notes can explain why a point was earned, so the update carries useful context for a conversation at home.
Notifications help families notice new awards without repeatedly opening the app. After signing in through the Guardian role, a parent can follow the linked student's activity and celebrate progress across academics, character, performance, or school spirit. This makes the app more than a scoreboard: it creates a practical communication loop between school recognition and family encouragement.
School Scoreboards and National House Rankings
Scoreboards turn individual recognition into a shared House competition. Parents and staff can follow totals at their own school, while the national leaderboard compares the four Ron Clark Academy Houses across participating communities. These views make accumulated effort visible and give students a reason to see how everyday contributions affect a larger team result throughout the year.
Leaderboard access can also follow the settings chosen by a school administrator. Version 3.29.0 includes a change that lets an admin hide the leaderboard after the relevant control is triggered, so a missing ranking view may reflect school configuration rather than a loading failure. Schools can therefore use the competitive layer when it supports their culture while retaining control over when rankings remain visible.
Role-Based Access for Each School Community
RCA House Points separates entry paths for Staff, Student, and Guardian users, helping each person reach the tools tied to their role. Staff can sign in with email and password or continue with a connected account, while guardians can create an account or sign in to reach a child linked by the participating school. Students use credentials or access details managed by their school.
That role structure keeps sensitive school information behind an account instead of exposing point records publicly. Guardian registration depends on a school code and student code supplied in a registration letter, and staff access can be limited by an administrator to functions such as awarding, editing, reporting, or store actions. The result is a shared system with different controls for educators, families, and students.
