Factris combines a falling-block puzzle with factor recognition. Each incoming rectangle represents a number, and players reshape it into a valid factor pair before guiding it into the grid. A block valued at 16, for example, can appear as 2 × 8 or 4 × 4, turning multiplication facts into spatial decisions instead of a worksheet exercise.
Once a shape is chosen, it must be packed without an undo button. The growing stack creates pressure while the next-number queue helps players plan beyond the current move. Reshape, Move, and Pack Each Block
On-screen controls keep the main actions focused on positioning. Arrow buttons move the current block across the grid, while Reshape swaps its width and height when another factor arrangement is available. Players can also discard a piece after the discard meter becomes ready, creating a limited escape from an awkward number without removing the need to plan.
Packing blocks into complete rows clears useful space and adds points. Taller constructions can earn larger multipliers, but they also bring the stack closer to the game-over line. The choice between a wide, low rectangle and a narrow, tall one gives each factor pair a practical purpose, making careful placement as important as quick calculation.
Timed Runs, Scores, and Next-Block Planning
Standard games run against a visible ten-minute timer, with the score displayed beside the board and several upcoming numbers listed in the Next queue. This gives players enough information to compare safe placements with riskier moves that may create better scoring opportunities. A pause control and sound toggle make it easy to stop briefly or play quietly.
The home screen ties each run to player initials and includes all-time and last-24-hours score areas. Even without chasing a leaderboard, the timed format works well for repeat attempts because players can compare their own packing efficiency and factor recall from one run to the next. Short rounds turn practice into a measurable puzzle rather than an open-ended drill.
Training Mode for Factor Practice
Training Mode gives learners more room to explore the relationship between a number and its rectangular arrays. Unlike the standard run, it allows resizing in both directions, so players can switch between equivalent layouts and see how the same total can occupy the board differently. A dedicated instruction screen explains play, discard, reshape, movement, row scoring, and multiplier strategy before the board begins.
This mode is useful for students building confidence with multiplication tables, divisibility, and factor pairs, as well as teachers looking for a short visual activity. Because the arithmetic is connected to a live packing problem, learners must use number knowledge rather than only recall an answer. It works especially well for brief practice sessions where the goal is to combine numeracy with planning.
